This
is an intensive 3-day workshop focusing on the art of food styling
for the media. Students will learn what a food stylist does
and their responsibilities. Learn how food reacts under the
camera, basic presentation, the ins and outs of propping, and
shopping and prepping for a shoot. This course covers the importance
of a culinary education, tricks and techniques for media food,
building a portfolio, breaking into the business, starting as
an assistant, sales skills, your career path, and adjusting
to current markets. Elements of design will be discussed with
emphasis on colors, textures, etc. Learn tips on how to work
with clients, art directors, photographers, and prop masters.
Students will be divided into teams to work on a piece for their
portfolio. Students will spend the last day of class at a food
photographer's studio. Taught by experienced industry professionals
- Denise Vivaldo and Cindie Flannigan of Food Fanatics, and
joined by special guests as scheduling permits.
